Bio

Prabh Deep is an MC from New Delhi, India. Gifted with a unique voice that contains traces of the traditional Punjabi folk singers, Prabh has been at the forefront of Delhi's hip-hop scene. Besides being a recording artist, he also pushes for and organizes MC Battles in the city. Born and brought up in Tilak Nagar, Prabh's self-conscious music has evolved from painting a vivid picture of growing up in a locality that's reeling from high unemployment rates and the recent influx of drugs in the community to exploring the pitfalls that come with fame and the challenges facing an artist that has become a voice for his people.

Life & Career

Constantly engaged in an effort to marry the underlying principles of hip-hop culture with the rich tapestry of traditional Punjabi poetry, Prabh Deep is widely acknowledged as one of the artists to emerge from the Indian Independent Music community in the past few years. Since the successful release of his critically-acclaimed album Class-Sikh, produced in collaboration with Sez on the Beat, Prabh Deep collaborated with fellow Azadi Records affiliates Tienas (Cyclone) and Ahmer (Elaan), delivering politically charged verses that showcased his commitment to speak truth to power in the face of growing authoritarianism. He followed those up with the release of his critically-acclaimed EP, 'K I N G', a record in which he collaborated with celebrated musicians such as Hashbass and Chaitanya Bhalla, completely redefining his sound and stepping away from the glacial, dark atmospheres that represented Class-Sikh and highlighting his versatility as an artist. Prabh Deep set himself apart from the mainstream wave, addressing issues that he felt strongly about and garnering a lot of applause for his delivery and flow.
