Bio

Upon the release of their debut album, Yourself or Someone Like You, in the fall of 1996, Matchbox Twenty was spotted as one of the legions of the post-Grunge guitar bands that toured the American pop scene in the middle of the decade. As their first single, 'Push,' climbed the charts, it was widely assumed that they were a one-hit-wonder, but Yourself or Someone Like You continued to spin the singles well into 1998. By that time, the band's mix of '70s arena rock and early-'90s American alt-rock, they had become the sound of mainstream American rock. The change slipped under the radar of a lot of pop music critics and fans.
