Roxette was one of the biggest international pop acts of the '90s, selling over 75 million records around the world and dominating the charts with songs like 'The Look', 'Listen to Your Heart', 'Joyride', and 'It Must Have Been Love', all four of which hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Hailing from Halmstad, Sweden, the duo featured vocalist Marie Fredriksson and songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Per Gessle.
Gessle translated a song called 'Svarta glas' into English, which became their first single, 'Neverending Love'. It was released in the summer of 1986 under the name Roxette and reached the Swedish top 10. With the release of Pearls of Passion in October 1986, Roxette maintained their commercial momentum in Sweden with their next singles 'Goodbye to You' and 'Soul Deep.' Roxette went on to achieve nineteen UK Top 40 hits and several US Hot 100 hits, including four US number-ones with 'The Look', 'Listen to Your Heart', 'It Must Have Been Love', featured on the soundtrack of Pretty Woman, and 'Joyride'. In 2002, the duo took a break from recording and touring. Roxette released Charm School, their first studio album in ten years, which was followed by Travelling in 2012. Their final studio album, Good Karma, was released in 2016.
