Mike Rosenberg is known for his intimate, folk-inflected sound. His single 'Let Her Go' topped the charts in several countries. He busked around Australia while recording his first few albums. Rosenberg initially started Passenger as a band, but after their debut album, he headed out on his own, assuming the moniker as his stage name. He won the Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work for his single ' let her go' in 2012.
Rosenberg began taking classical guitar lessons in his early teens and composed his own songs. Hoping to pursue a music career, he left school at the age of 16 and spent several years busking. After meeting Andrew Phillips in 2002, the duo founded Passenger, bringing Marcus O'Dair, Richard Brincklow and Alon Cohen on board as well. In 2007, Passenger's full-length album, Wicked Man's Rest was released which spawned the single 'Walk You Home.' Passenger opened for a variety of high-profile indie acts across the U.K. That year, Kate Nash and Hold Steady included. In 2018, Rosenberg celebrated his American heritage with the rootsy, Americana-inflected Runaway, featuring the single 'Hell or High Water’ while 2019 saw him releasing the acoustic guitar, vocals, and string quartet LP Sometimes It's Something, Sometimes It's Nothing at All, which saw all proceeds go to the U.K.-based homeless charity Shelter.
