The group emerged in 1993 at the Capelinha de São Caetano, a suburb of Salvador, after Roque César won some percussion instruments at Christmas and invited friends and cousins to play with him. In the beginning, they played songs from other groups, like the songs of the band Fundo de Quintal. Over time it was incorporated bass, ukulele and keyboard.
In 1998, vocalist Xandy joins the band. The formation was established, with 11 members: Xandy on vocals, Roque César on drums, Deco on cavaquinho, Bimba on bass, Rodinay on keyboards, Mocka on deaf, Martin Sante and Marcinho Gomes on percussion, Mouth on trumpet, Ricardinho on saxophone and Kleiton on the trombone. Bassist Bimba became the musical director of the group, taking care of the arrangements and compositions.
