Hot Chip

With a flair for witty yet affecting songwriting and a pair of immediately recognizable vocalists in the clear-voiced Alexis Taylor and his gruffer life-long friend Joe Goddard, Hot Chip combines indie and dance in distinctive, innovative ways. On early albums such as 2006's ‘The Warning,’ the band evoked the cleverness of Talking Heads. As time went on, Hot Chip's music broadened and deepened. The rave-tinged anthems of 2019's ‘A Bath Full of Ecstasy’ are reflected in the music.

In 2000, Goddard and Taylor officially became Hot Chip and released the Mexico EP, a hypnotic wash of nearly subliminal, pulse-like techno beats, acoustic guitars, and plinky pianos with Victory Garden Records. The duo became a full-fledged band with the addition of Owen Clarke, Al Doyle, and Felix Martin. Hot Chip's first full-length, Coming on Strong, was released in 2004 on Moshi Moshi Records. Having completed a world tour in February 2009 & releasing hits over the years, Hot Chip returned to London and began writing and recording their fourth album, One Life Stand. They have worked with Katy Perry on her 2017 album Witness, which came out on Domino.
